Apple Music has officially launched
Soul September, a month-long celebration of Soul and R&B artists.
Kicking off on 9/1, the campaign features 14 exclusive playlists with music from the likes of
John Legend,
Toni Braxton,
Tamia and
Anthony Hamilton, as well as new wave artists like
Ari Lennox,
Alina Baraz,
Snoh Aalegra,
Teyana Taylor,
Victoria Monet and
Elaine.
The guest playlists will feature each artists’ favorite Soul and R&B songs as well as tracks that served as inspiration in their own careers. Additionally, the collection will have new R&B releases and classic albums, music videos and Artist Essential playlists.
“During this exciting period in R&B where we’re seeing both breaking artists and legacy artists release such impactful projects — and collaborate with each other — Soul September is a much-needed celebration of their work and the music that inspired them,” said
Nadeska Alexis.
Legend adds, "This is a list of some of the R&B and soul songs that I love. Many of them are from decades ago. They were the songs that made me fall in love with the beautiful tradition of black music that I try to help carry on today. Some are from my favorite R&B artists of today.”
