Cynthia Erivo and
Leslie Odom Jr. salute

Great Performances: Grammy Salute To Music Legends airing 10/16 on
PBS.
The
Recording Academy’s 2020 Special Merit Awards recipients will be honored in the awards ceremony and tribute concert that has been produced without an audience and in different locations due to COVID-19's impact on live events.
Jimmy Jam is the host.
Chicago, Flack,
Isaac Hayes,
Iggy Pop, Prine,
Public Enemy, and
Sister Rosetta Tharpe received the Lifetime Achievement Awards; Ehrlich,
Philip Glass and
Frank Walker received Trustees Award honors; and
George Augspurger was recognized with the Technical Grammy Award.
Mickey Smith Jr. will accept the Music Educator Award.
To honor Flack, Erivo will sing
"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and Erivo and Odom will duet on "Where Is The Love."
Philip Bailey will sing Chicago’s "If You Leave Me Now,"
Yola honors Thorpe with "Up Above My Head, I Hear Music In The Air,"
Sam Moore will do a medley of Hayes’ compositions,
Laurie Anderson salutes Glass with "Gee Whiz" and
Chris Isaak gives Walker a tip of the hat with "Your Cheatin' Heart."
Lauper will sing "Time After Time" for Ehrlich; the Prine tribute is Isbell and
Amanda Shires performing "Storm Windows" and Carlile doing "I Remember Everything."
