Summer Walker,
whose own recordings (on
LVRN/Interscope) have made her one of the hottest young artists in the game and a force in R&B, has launched an imprint,
Ghetto Earth Records, as a JV with Interscope. The first signing to the fledgling label is
NO1-NOAH, who guested memorably on two tracks on Walker’s
Life on Earth EP.
“I came up with Ghetto Earth because earth is ghetto,” reads a quote from Walker. “I don’t wanna be controlling my artist’s music; I want them to be fully involved in everything they put out. I’m just here to support and help them get to wherever it is they’re trying to go in life.”

Interscope EVP/Co-Head of A&R
Nicole Wyskoarko hailed Walker as “a visionary,” noting, “She's writing her own rules as one of the most talented artists in R&B today and is now adding 'entrepreneur' to her resume.”
Walker’s
Over It was among the year’s most-streamed albums (spending more than a year on the chart). It earned plaudits across the cultural spectrum, not to mention such laurels as the
Soul Train Awards’ Album of the Year trophy.
