Chinese pop star
XIN LIU has signed to
88rising ahead of the release of her first English-language music. The artist will play her debut U.S. show 4/14 at
Coachella as part of an ensemble 88rising Futures set.
LIU is beloved in China for her singing, dancing and fashion sense (she's a
Dior China brand ambassador). She emerged after winning Chinese reality show
Youth With You in 2020, and her 2021 EP
EPSILON went on to sell more than 7m copies in the People's Republic.
"I'm thrilled to be part of this big journey standing as an artist from China to perform at Coachella as my first international stage performance," LIU said. "Can’t wait to share my music and passion on the world stage." Added 88rising founder
Sean Miyashiro, "We are beyond excited to welcome XIN LIU to the 88rising family. She has already built an incredible career throughout Asia, and we’re looking forward to bringing her vision to the rest of the world."
At Coachella, LIU will be flanked by such acts as
ATARASHII GAKKO!,
Number_i,
Awich and
YOASOBI. The performance follows 88rising's takeover of the Coachella main stage in 2022, a first-of-its kind label showcase at the California festival.
Minus LIU, many of the 88rising Futures artists will also appear at the
Bowery Presents-promoted
Head in the Clouds New York Music & Arts Festival, 5/11-12 at
Forest Hills Tennis Stadium just outside Manhattan.
