Interscope has signed a deal with
Jennifer Hudson, the youngest female
EGOT winner in history.
"Jennifer has made so many important contributions to global musical culture onstage, onscreen and through her incredible body of recordings," said
Interscope Capitol Label Group Vice Chairman
Steve Berman. "She is a tour de force and we are thrilled that she has chosen to spend the next phase of her career at Interscope."
Hudson won an
Oscar for her role as "Effie" in the 2007 film
Dreamgirls and went on to win a
Grammy the following year for her self-titled debut. She was nominated again in 2014 for "It's Your World," from
JHUD. She made her Broadway debut in 2015 in the
Tony Award-winning production of
The Color Purple, then won her second Grammy when the accompanying soundtrack won Best Musical Theater Album. In 2022, she won a Tony as co-producer of
A Strange Loop, which was named Best Musical. Her Emmy arrived in 2021 for her role as executive producer of the short VR film
Baba Yaga.
The youngest
person to achieve EGOT status is
Robert Lopez.
