Rap Attack founder, veteran radio DJ and member of the
HITS family
Nasty Nes Rodriguez, who worked with
Death Row,
Loud,
Priority and
Bad Boy Records throughout the '80s and '90s, needs our help.
A
GoFundMe campaign has been launched as Nes is facing the consequences of a series of medical issues, including a heart attack, pneumonia, kidney failure, a UTI and sepsis. He's currently re-learning how to walk.
"Nes' recovery will necessitate extensive physical therapy, as well as a wheelchair or scooter for mobility, specialized rehabilitation and rest," reads the campaign's web page. "The financial strain of his medical care has put him in a precarious position."
Nes is credited with discovering
Sir Mix-a-Lot, in 1980. He was also the mastermind behind
FreshTracks, the first all-rap radio show on the West Coast, on Seattle’s
1250 KFOX. Moreover, Nes helped establish the Pinoy music scene with his
Crazy Pinoy Productions.
