YMU has appointed Matt Rowsell to Artist Manager. Based in London, he will report to YMU’s U.K. Managing Director, Chris Dempsey.

Kicking off his music biz career in 2004 as an assistant promoter at the Barfly group in York, Rowsell served as an independent artist manager for 15+ years prior to joining YMU.

In addition to managing acts like We Are the Ocean and Capitol signees Eliza and the Bear, he also discovered Lauran Hibberd in 2019, whose debut album arrives via Virgin Music later this year.

“Matt has a brilliant reputation as an independent artist manager who always goes above and beyond for the artists he represents,” said Dempsey. “We’re delighted to welcome him to the YMU team.”

“I’m excited to be at YMU and to be working with Chris and the amazing team here. Having been independent for so long it’s nice to have others to bounce ideas off and to continue my learning in what is an ever-changing industry,” added Rowsell.
