KANE RISES ABOVE: "THIS IS WHAT MOTIVATES ME"
3/13/17

Some people feel free, in this political moment, to say some really hateful stuff—stuff that should sicken anyone with a functioning conscience. Sad to say, such words were recently directed at a breakout country artist who happens to be biracial. But RCA Nashville/Zone 4’s Kane Brown neither engaged with the vitriol nor attempted to ignore it. Instead, he shared the racist rant along with his own response: “Sorry for the language. But this is what motivates me.”

Naturally, his fans offered bountiful moral support (as have publications like Rare Country), not to mention praise for his gracious answer. Brown, who sold out his recent gig in Traverse City, Michigan and will be in Athens, Georgia, on 3/15, has earned more than 13 million audio streams in 2 ½ months. His debut was the best for a new artist in the genre since Sam Hunt's in 2014, and the #4 best new-artist bow in any genre in 2016.
