Willie Nelson adds to a filmography that began nearly 40 years ago in 1979s The Electric Horseman with Pure Country: Pure Heart, a music filled feature-length film in which the country icon co-stars with Tony-award nominee Laura Bell Bundy, Ronnie Cox and wrestling legend Shawn Michaels.

The Warner Bros. Home Entertainment/WWE Studios production, directed by Damon Santostefano, tells the story of teenage sisters who search for the truth about the father they never knew–a Marine who died in Iraq–and their quest to find success as singer/songwriters.

The film, available on DVD and Blue-Ray 8/1, features 23 songs, including Nelson’s classic “We Don’t Run,” as well as tracks from songwriters Trent Dabbs & Jabe Beyer, Jon Kenzie, Maren Morris and Dallas Davidson & Natalia Starzuynski. WaterTower Music will release the Pure Country: Pure Heart soundtrack on 8/1.
