BTS have claimed the fastest-selling album in the U.K. of 2020 as
Map of the Soul: 7 (
Big Hit) hits the top of the Official Albums Chart on 38k combined sales. Over on singles,
The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” (
Island) is back on top.
Map of the Soul: 7 is the second #1 for BTS in Blighty following
Map of the Soul: Persona last year. They overtake
Eminem’s
Music to Be Murdered By (
Polydor), which previously had the year’s biggest debut week with just over 36k sales. More than 32k of BTS’ opening figure came from physical and downloads.
Ozzy Osbourne has his highest-charting album as a solo artist with
Ordinary Man (
Sony) at #3, beating the #7 peak he reached in 1980 with his solo debut,
Blizzard of Oz.
Stormzy’s
Heavy is the Head (
Atlantic/
Merky) rises two places to #5 following its release on vinyl, while
Grimes earns her first Top 10 with
Miss Anthropocene (
4AD) at #10.
Man Alive (
XL) by
King Krule charts at #12.
On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, The Weeknd reclaims the top spot for a third non-consecutive week as “Blinding Lights” rises one place. He also has this week’s highest new entry with “After Hours” at #20.
Elsewhere in the Top 10,
Saint Jhn’s “Roses” (
Ministry of Sound) lifts three places to a new peak at #4, and
Joel Corry bags his second Top 10 hit with “Lonely” (
Atlantic) up six places to #8.
Justin Bieber f/
Quavo’s “Intentions” (
Virgin EMI) climbs one place to a new high at #9, and
Harry Styles’ “Adore You” (
Columbia) rebounds three spots to #10.
Style’s latest single, “Falling,” which he performed at last week’s BRITs, makes its Top 40 debut, zooming up 12 places to #29.
