U.K. CHARTS: WELLER'S #1 TIES A RECORD

Paul Weller has scored his fifth solo U.K. Official Albums #1 with On Sunset (Polydor) on 24,000 sales. Over on singles, “Savage Love (Laxed—Siren Beat)” by Jawsh 685 & Jason Derulo (RCA) holds onto the top spot for a second week.

Including chart-topping records with The Jam and The Style Council, Weller has seven #1s in the U.K. overall. This means he claims the feat of reaching #1 on the Official Albums Chart across five consecutive decades, alongside Paul McCartney and John Lennon.

Pop Smoke’s posthumous release Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon (Republic) is #2, making it the highest-charting debut album by an international rap artist in 17 years; 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ debuted at #2 in 2003.

Completing an all-new Top 3 this week is Katherine Jenkins’ Cinema Paradiso (Decca). The classical singer’s 13th studio album is her 10th Top 10 collection and highest-charting since 2007’s #3-peaking Rejoice.

Sparks are new at #7 with A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip (BMG), and Cannibal (Music for Nations) from metalcore band Bury Tomorrow ends the week at #10.

On the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart, “Savage Love (Laxed—Siren Beat)” claimed the top spot again on 63k chart sales, including 7.2m streams.

It ended the week 8,000 chart sales ahead of its closest competition, “Rockstar” by DaBaby f/Roddy Ricch (Polydor) at #2.

The highest new entry goes to AJ Tracey and Mabel’s “West Ten” (Sony), which debuts at #7, earning both artists their fifth Top 10 single.

Another new Top 10 entry comes from Pop Smoke, “The Woo” at #9. Two other singles from Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon land in this week’s Top 40: “For The Night” at #14 and “Mood Swings” at #23.
