Island Records will relaunch
4th & Broadway, tapping Island EVP
LaTrice Burnette as President of the hip-hop label.
The imprint and its newly appointed staff will enjoy a strategic alliance with Island and
Republic Records. Island President/CEO
Darcus Beese made the announcement.
“LaTrice has reinforced my belief that a record company’s success is measured as much by its staff as by its artist roster,” Beese said. “An exciting new generation of executives are leading the way, leaving their mark on the entire industry. LaTrice has set the standard for the future and I’m excited to relaunch 4th & Broadway, the label that helped kick-start my own career, with her at the helm.”
Burnette, a member of Island’s senior management team, has served as Executive Vice President and General Manager since her arrival in 2018. She's led creative and marketing campaigns for artists such as
Jessie Reyez,
Skip Marley,
Toni Braxton and others. She joined Island after eight years at
Epic, where she rose to Senior Vice President of Marketing.
In addition to her leadership roles at Island Records and 4th & Broadway, Burnette is Chair of the Programming and Curation Committee of
Universal Music Group’s Task Force for Meaningful Change.
Regarding the promotion, Republic Records Founder and CEO
Monte Lipman said, “LaTrice brings a strong vision and prodigious skill to the legendary label, further enhancing our strategic alliance with Darcus and Island Records.”
After the announcement was made, Burnette led a Zoom call on which everyone recited “Paid in Full.”
