We’re still grinning from
S-Curve’s invitation-only
20th Anniversary Celebration on Zoom, which was attended by some 300 guests. Among them were
Eddie Levert and
Walter Williams of
The O’Jays (celebrating their 62nd anniversary as a group),
Ian Axel of
A Great Big World,
Danny Goldberg,
David Simone,
Steve Leeds,
Billy Mann,
Jimmy Webb, music supervisor extraordinaire
Michael Hill,
Jack Sussman,
BMG EVP
John Loeffler,
Kid Kelly,
Jayn from
KLLC and, of course, the full roster of S-Curve Records and
Hollywood Records staffers.
Performances from
Andy Grammar,
AJR,
Baha Men,
Joss Stone,
Taylor Hanson,
We The Kings and
Leslie Odom Jr. paid homage to S-Curve honcho
Steve Greenberg. Surprise (to us, anyway) appearances by
Tom Jones and
Duran Duran’s
John Taylor occasioned swoons.
The event also featured emotional tributes to soul legend
Betty Wright and multiple
Emmy and
Grammy winner
Adam Schlesinger, two artists closely associated with S-Curve who passed away this year.
Here’s to the next 20 years. Alas, we remain mystified as to who let the dogs out.
