BBC Music Sound of 2021 long list has been revealed, with
UMG and
Warner counting three acts apiece, while
Sony has one and the independent sector counts three.
The list was compiled by a panel of industry experts and alumni artists like
Billie Eilish and
Stormzy.
Tipped for success next year from UMG U.K.’s camp are two
EMI artists—eclectic pop act
Bree Runway and R&B singer
Greentea Peng—and
Island band
The Lathums. Warner Music U.K. has
Warner Records singer/songwriter/producer
GRIFF and
rapper
Pa Salieu as well as
Parlophone rapper
Dutchavelli. Rapper-singer
BERWYN is Sony’s entry.
Amongs the independent acts are
Chess Club singer/songwriter
Alfie Templeman,
AWAL act
girl in red—a Norwegian singer/songwriter/producer—and singer/songwriter
Holly Humberstone, who is currently releasing through
Platoon.
The countdown to the Top 5 will commence Sunday, 1/3, and continue throughout the week, with the winner announced on 1/7.
