In our new feature,
Power Hitters, we shine a spotlight on the brilliant songwriters and producers behind the biggest smashes in the biz, the players who regularly step up to the plate and deliver a hit—and frequently drive it clear out of the park.

Songwriter
Nija Charles made her bones in R&B but is now penning crossover giants.

The L.A.-based topliner co-wrote
Chris Brown &
Drake’s 2019 monster “No Guidance,” which spent five weeks at #1 on the Rhythm radio chart, surpassed 1b on-demand streams and is well past 6m in total activity.
2020 was her breakthrough year in the pop world, beginning with
Lady Gaga &
Ariana Grande’s juggernaut “Rain on Me.” That cut gave the versatile writer her first overall #1. Nija ended the year on a high note with the release of
Grande’s
Positions, for which she co-wrote three songs, notching another #1 with the title track. It just logged its eighth consecutive week atop the Pop radio chart.
Between the aforementioned triumphs, she lent her skills to tracks recorded by
Beyoncé,
Chloe x Halle,
Maroon 5 and
ZAYN as well as
Summer Walker, for her critically acclaimed debut,
Over It; Nija's credit appears on no fewer than four of the album's songs.
Nija was signed to
Jody Gerson’s
UMPG in 2018 by A&R ace
Lillia Parsa. She's
repped by
Christian McCurdy of
Legion Management (
Ant Clemons).
Nija is currently working on her debut as an artist.
