Classic
MTV and
VH1 programs such as
Behind the Music,
Yo! MTV Raps and
Unplugged will be revived on
ViacomCBS' streaming platform,
Paramount+.
ViacomCBS announced the relaunch of the iconic programs on Wednesday as it detailed Paramount+'s streaming options and content.
"We are thrilled to reinvent some of our most storied and impactful music franchises, including
Behind the Music and
Yo! MTV Raps, for Paramount+," said ViacomCBS Music Prez
Bruce Gillmer. "In addition, we will partner with some of the biggest names across the music industry to bring exclusive and unique content to the platform, such as Dave Grohl’s
From Cradle to Stage, based on his mom's critically acclaimed book, and many more to come."
Unplugged aired a new episode this week featuring K-pop superstars
BTS. Those performances are currently atop the
YouTube trending-video chart.
Air dates for the Paramount+/MTV rollout have not yet been announced, but the Paramount+ app launches on 3/4, replacing
CBS All Access.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that
MTV Spring Break episodes from the '90 aren't remastered; things got pleasantly blurry right before
Limp Bizkit blew up that boat during "Nookie."
