Artist manager
Solomon Sounds, whose clients included the late
XXXTENTACION, has joined
Capitol Records as Senior Vice President of A&R. He reports to Capitol Music Group Chairman & CEO
Jeff Vaughn.
Based in New York, Sounds will sign and develop artists for the company as well as oversee recording projects for new and established Capitol artists.
“Solomon’s proven instinct for identifying impactful artists and his ability to nurture their creativity aligns perfectly with our mission at Capitol,” Vaughn said. “His successes to date reflect our shared commitment to artists from all corners of the pop music landscape, which is more dynamic and diverse than ever.”
Sounds previously spent 10 years managing artists through his company and label
Sounds Music Group. He managed XXXTENTACION and his estate after the artist's death in 2018, overseeing the creative process and release of two posthumous albums,
Skins in 2018 and
Bad Vibes Forever in 2019.
After a brief hiatus from the music business following XXXTENTACION's death and a joint venture with Republic Records in 2018, Sounds resumed managing artists, including
StaySolidRocky, and secured deals for rappers
ppcocaine,
Cochise,
645Ar and
BFB Da Packman.
Early on, Sounds worked at
Columbia,
RCA and
Decca.
