"Say, Steve,"
Disney Music Group boss
Ken Bunt asks
S-Curve chief
Steve Greenberg as the pair pose in commemoration of their new joint venture, "does
Andy Grammer have any songs about, like, baby Yodas fighting light-saber battles with Iron Man, or any other exciting cross-franchise opportunities?"
We kid, because we love. In any case, S-Curve has a new home at DMG, with Grammer as the first artist announced as part of the deal. The pop troubadour's new single, "Lease on Life," is due 6/28; he performed it on
CNN's graduation special featuring Vice President
Kamala Harris, and the song will be included in a big summer ad campaign from
International Hotel Group. S-Curve and
Hollywood Records will be releasing "Lease on Life" under an exclusive license from Grammer and manager
Ben Singer. (The imprint's prior catalog remains with former partner
BMG.)
Greenberg declared himself "thrilled" to announce this new chapter of his company. "We’ve had nine platinum hits working with Disney's Pop promotion staff over the past six years," he added, "and I think our new, deeper partnership with DMG is going to lead to very exciting things. Nothing could be more perfect than starting things off with new music from Andy Grammer, who has had more hits for S-Curve than any artist in the label’s 21-year history. Andy’s a truly inspiring artist and I’m certain the best is yet to come for him.”
For his part, Bunt declared, “Steve’s musical acumen and attention to detail are truly remarkable, and we are thrilled to be partnering with him and his S-Curve label, as well as officially welcoming Andy Grammer to the DMG family. We have been working with Andy for many years now, supporting his incredible music at radio, and we are honored to be able to extend that relationship across the rest of the company.”
