New administration signings include top songwriters
Samuel Dixon (
Adele,
Sia,
Christina Aguilera,
Carly Rae Jepsen) and
Jimmy Hogarth (
Amy Winehouse,
Duffy,
Paolo Nutini) and blues legend
Taj Mahal.
Jason Isbell,
Tori Amos and
Ween are among the artists who have renewed their admin deals, while
Cheat Codes,
American Authors and
Hunter Hayes have inked distribution agreements.
“I am delighted that with Downtown Music Services we have brought together two outstanding businesses that have made huge steps over the last 10 years in the artist and songwriter space,” said
Mike Smith, Global President, Downtown Music Services. “I have always gone to work with the intention of providing the best possible service for the songwriters and artists I worked with. For me, copyright ownership was irrelevant; it was always about serving the music creators and helping them realize their dreams. We are entirely focused on that at DMS.”
Downtown Music reoriented its business in April to focus solely on artist services, selling its publishing catalog to
Concord Music. The 145,000 songs therein included tracks by
Jay-Z,
Madonna,
Lady Gaga and
David Bowie.
