Republic's
Taylor Swift will score the second-biggest debut of the year with
Red (Taylor's Version); see updated projection below. Year-to-date, Swift's opening will land behind labelmate
Drake, whose
Certified Lover Boy (
OVO/Republic) debuted with 613k in September. More than 200m streams will contribute between 160 and 190k in SEA to
Red TV's total.
Taylor Swift,
Red (Taylor’s Version):
475-525k total activity, 275-325k albums
We're told Swift's new version of
Red also broke multiple records on
Spotify in its first 24 hours. Incredibly, it outstreamed
folklore—which previously held the title of biggest first day on Spotify for an album by a woman—by 10m.
Tay's new, 10-minute version of "All Too Well" is #1 at
Spotify global and U.S., where she owns seven of the Top 10 and 15 of the Top 20. The song is also #2 at
Apple Music, where the artist has four of the Top 10. Iterations of
Red (Taylor's Version) are #1 and #3 at
iTunes—in the wake of her ambitious
SNL appearance—and the extended "All Too Well" is the #1 track.
As of this week,
UMG has nine of the year’s Top 10 debuts, with
Sony's
Tyler, The Creator the spoiler to a perfect 10. Of course, these rankings will be short-lived as
Adele's
30 (
Columbia) is on deck for Friday and expected to open with the year’s biggest number.
