Amy Allen, who's among the five nominees in
Grammy's
new Songwriter of the Year category, has inked a global admin deal with
Warner Chappell Music, where she'll work alongside
Ryan Press and VP A&R
Gabz Landman. While they posed for this photo op, the two execs urged Allen to let all calls from us go to voicemail.
Over the past few years, Allen's penned a plethora of pop hits for artists like
Harry Styles (
Columbia),
Justin Bieber (
RBMG/
Def Jam),
Sam Smith (
Capitol),
Halsey (
Capitol) and
Selena Gomez (
Interscope). Halsey's "Without Me," which Allen co-wrote, was certified nine-times-platinum last September. More recently, she co-wrote Styles’ “Matilda,” which debuted in the Top 10.
A native of Portland, Maine, Allen started writing songs at the age of 10, later pursuing her professional aspirations at the
Berklee School of Music.
As WCM President of North America
Ryan Press noted, “Amy has made a name for herself in pop music, helping pen many of the genre’s biggest hits. This nomination is a huge, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an incredible moment for her. We’re so proud to be on this journey together at such an exciting and pivotal time in Amy's career."
