AEG Presents-owned The Bowery Presents and The HYM Investment Group have announced plans for an outdoor general-admission concert venue at the historic East Boston racetrack Suffolk Downs.
The Stage at Suffolk Downs will host up to 8,500 concertgoers beginning next spring. It will join The Bowery Presents’ other Boston-area venues, Roadrunner, Royale and The Sinclair in Cambridge.
“The Bowery Presents has always focused on creating and operating venues where fans and artists alike can have a great experience," said Josh Bhatti, VP/head of the Boston office of The Bowery Presents, expressing confidence that the new venue would join the company's other regional properties "as a beloved concert venue in Greater Boston, delivering on our commitment to keep the music first" and adding, "The Bowery Presents is honored to have the opportunity to work alongside the HYM team to bring The Stage at Suffolk Downs to fruition.”
The Bowery Presents intends to uphold the track's musical legacy, which includes a 1966 performance by The Beatles. Other artists who've graced the stage include Radiohead, Björk and The Jackson 5.
