LadBaby has made U.K. Official Chart history by claiming the Christmas singles #1 for a fifth consecutive year. Over on albums,
Taylor Swift is back on top.
LadBaby's “Food Aid” (
BMG), which is raising funds for food-bank charity the
Trussell Trust and the
Band Aid Foundation, has topped the Official Singles Chart with over 65k in sales. It’s the fastest-selling single of 2022 to date. The duo has broken a long-held chart record set by
The Beatles, who previously had the most Christmas #1s with four.
In second place is “Last Christmas” (
Epic) by
Wham!, the most-streamed track of the week with 12.9m plays. YouTube supergroup
Sidemen (comprised of
KSI,
Vik and
Tobi) is the week’s highest climber as the self-released “Christmas Drillings” f/
JME rises 38 places to #3.
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” (
Columbia) by
Mariah Carey is #4, and
Ed Sheeran &
Elton John’s “Merry Christmas” (
Atlantic/
EMI) is at #5.
On the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, Swift’s
Midnights (EMI) returns to #1 for a third week. The set finished with over 17k in sales ahead of its closest competitor,
Christmas With Cliff (
East West/
Rhino), at #2.
Michael Bublé’s
Christmas (
Reprise) rises one to #3, while
SZA's
SOS (
RCA/
Top Dawg) moves down to #4.
Andrea Bocelli and his children,
Matteo and
Virginia, climb two slots to #5 with
A Family Christmas (
Decca).
