Capitol Music Group’s brand-new distro deal with hot Latin indie
The Wave Music Group, this illustrious trade photo was orchestrated at the legendary Capitol Tower, after which it was time for some fun music-biz history. “About 50 feet from where we’re standing,
Bhaskar Menon once took a drag off a joint from
Paul McCartney and briefly glimpsed his own DNA,” explained CMG boss
Michelle Jubelirer. Seen still tingling from the vibes are (l-r) CMG Director of A&R
Sergio Vega, President of A&R
Jeremy Vuernick, Jubelirer, Wave Music Group owners
Angelo Torres and
Caleb Calloway and CMG President
Arjun Pulijal. The image was captured by Latin-music luminary
Lester Cohen.
CMG will provide services as well as distribution to support Wave Music Group releases.
The first fruit of the new pact is “
Lisa” by Puerto Rican rapper-songwriter
Young Miko, which has racked up north of 50m streams, amassed crazy video views and is powering a ton of
TikTok creations. Miko was recently summoned to the stage in Puerto Rico by none other than
Bad Bunny. The two performed her song "Riri."
Veteran manager and A&R exec Torres (
Alvaro Diaz,
Sebastián Yatra) and producer Calloway (Bad Bunny,
J Balvin,
Rauw Alejandro) founded Wave Music Group in 2021, building it into what Vuernick calls “a proven force for developing and breaking artists in the Latin music space.” The company is based in Puerto Rico and Miami.
