The 2024
BET Awards went down Sunday night (6/30) at the
Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Hosted by
Taraji P. Henson for a third consecutive year, the event celebrated Black artists who've made an indelible mark over the past year.
Killer Mike's
Grammy winner
Michael was named Album of the Year, SZA earned Best Female R&B/Pop Artist honors and
USHER took home Best Male R&B/Pop Artist and a Lifetime Achievement Award. Video of the Year went to
Victoria Monét for the "On My Mama" clip; the song is on her
Jaguar II album (
Lovett Music/
RCA).
Tyla (
Epic)
snagged Best New Artist and Best International Artist.
Following performances by
Will Smith,
Lauryn Hill and her son
YG Marley,
Sexyy Red,
Ice Spice and many (many) others, the ceremony abruptly ended without disclosing who won Best Female and Male Hip-Hop Artist, Best Group, Best Collaboration, Best Video Director and several others. But BET sorted that out quickly, naming
Nicki Minaj Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and
Kendrick Lamar Best Male Hip-Hop Artist.
Head
here for the full list of winners. Needless to say,
we continue to be losers.
