We just wanted to jump in here and say that despite claims that they are imperiled because of some imagined enemy who wants to have them for dinner, your pets are OK—not just in Springfield, but everywhere. But we remind you to reach out to your people and be sure to vote.
We further note that the evening did not go particularly well for
Donald Trump, who rose to
Kamala Harris' bait every single time and appeared to turn into the malfunctioning-robot version of his usual self, spewing his catalog of grievances and lies in a random, desperate loop. The split-screen visual of the two candidates at their podiums did not do him any favors either. Words like "knockout," "crushed" and "destroyed" were bandied about by
pundits in the aftermath,
CNN viewers said she won by a 2-1 margin and the Harris campaign
raked in a mountain of money. Then
Taylor Swift endorsed Harris, as did her cats.
The pet-eating thing became an instant meme—as well as a risible symbol of the state of the GOP campaign.
Woof.
