Wicked, which continues to entrance audiences around the world, just put a new milestone in the rear view by passing $700m at the global box office.
The
Universal release has banked $460m domestically sand still awaits opening in Japan, where it will hit theaters on 3/9. According to
Box Office Mojo, it’s also been hanging tough stateside, minting $13.3 in the first week of 2025.
Those figures don’t include the $70m the
Jon M. Chu-directed blockbuster has earned since hitting Premium VOD on 12/31. That’s the best debut Universal has seen for any theatrical title with a premium release.
On Wednesday, the musical earned seven
BAFTA noms, including Leading Actress for
Cynthia Erivo and Supporting Actress for
Ariana Grande.
