Mere hours after
Doechii became only the third woman to win the Best Rap Album
Grammy, for
Alligator Bites Never Heal, the
TDE/
Capitol artist dropped a new single, "Nosebleeds."
The
Jonas Jeberg-produced track, which she wrote and recorded especially for the occasion, was executive-produced by
Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and
Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith.
Doechii, who performed two songs, “Catfish” and “Denial Is a River," from her Grammy-winning album, delivered a brief acceptance speech after fellow Best Rap Album winner
Cardi B presented her with the trophy.
“I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape,” she said. “I bared my life. I went through so much. I dedicated myself to sobriety, and God told me that I would be rewarded and that he would show me just how good it can get."
She ended her remarks with a message of encouragement, saying, "I know there is some Black girl out there. So many Black women out there that are watching me right now. I want to tell you, you can do it. Anything is possible. Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you that tell you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark, or that you’re not smart enough, or that you’re too dramatic, or you’re too loud.”
Listen to "Nosebleeds," which will forever remind us of where we were forced to sit during the ceremony, below.
