The Kooks have teamed with new global distribution partners at the Virgin Music Group for their first album in three years, Never/Know, which is set to drop on 5/9.

The group is setting the stage for that release with the first single, “Never Know,” which dropped on 1/31. Frontman and songwriter Luke Pritchard describes the song as “A love song about a cute meet with someone unpredictable. I like the idea of it being played in a convertible on a road trip somewhere ridiculous. Because really, you never know.”

The album, which Pritchard produced himself, started as a solo project, but when guitarist Hugh Harris joined him in the studio, they rekindled the collaborative spirit that defined the band’s early, most spontaneous work. Harris said, “At the heart of it, we both want the same thing, and that’s very powerful.”
