WHAT IT IS: L.A. native Kyle Banks has paved a path of his own via his unique twist on R&B with a laid-back West Coast bounce, show-stopping vocals and unflagging ambition. After inking with Red Bull Records last year, the R&B/hip-hop hybrid kicked off 2022 with the EP Uncommon, which boasts productions from Grammy-nominated duo LouieJi & Meez (J. Cole, Rae Sremmurd, Cozz) and Travis Marsh (Drake, French Montana, Teyana Taylor). Featuring singles like “Bad Bih,” “Bogus” f/BlueBucksClan and “On Me” f/Bino Rideaux, as well as contributions from special guests including K Camp and Damar Jackson, the nine-track project exhibits the charismatic artist’s soulful melodies and heavy-hitting flows.
