Def Jam Recordings has named L.A.-based manager
DJ Mormile and seasoned marketing exec
Jeff Burroughs to senior executive roles as
Paul Rosenberg bulks up the operation with veteran leadership and experience.
Mormile, whose clients include producer
Mike Will Made It, rapper
YG and
Soulja Boy, has been appointed Executive Vice President, West Coast, and will sign and develop talent exclusively for Def Jam. Mormile reports to Chairman & CEO Rosenberg.
“DJ brings to Def Jam over 20 years of experience in the industry and a resumé that includes a long string of decorated accomplishments and accolades,” Rosenberg said. “We are very lucky to bring his sharp ear, experience and strong relationships into our fold.”
Burroughs, as Senior Vice President of Marketing, will direct marketing activities coming out of Def Jam’s New York City headquarters, and lead Def Jam’s team of product managers in creating and executing strategic campaigns. Burroughs will report to
Scott Greer, EVP, Marketing & Commerce, and
Rich Isaacson, GM & EVP.

Most recently SVP of A&R at
Columbia Records, Mormile spent 14 years at
Interscope Records, beginning in the Urban A&R Department in 1998, when
Eminem was signed. He was promoted to Head of the Urban A&R Department in 2005, and from 2009 to 2012 was Head of Interscope’s entire Urban Music Department.
Burroughs founded and helmed the marketing, consulting and brand strategy firm
Rise Entertainment after stints as
Head of Commercial for
Simon Cowell’s
SYCO, SVP at
RCA Records, and EVP at
Bad Boy Entertainment.
