RCA's Brockhampton has caught fire with their single "SUGAR." The ultra-hip group's bubbling track is garnering heavy action at nearly every platform and chart.
As RCA begins to pile on adds at Top 40, Co-President Joe Riccitelli explains the buzz behind the breakthrough: "We wanted to be patient and take advantage of the fall tour. We made sure we got everyone out to every show at every format. I knew once they saw the show it would be the catalyst. Everyone who saw the show said, 'We've never seen anything like this, and we want to be a part of it.'"
At Spotify U.S., the track hit #25 over the weekend, a new peak for "SUGAR." It racked up 7m streams last week, up 54%. It also entered the top 40 at Apple Music.
Plenty of activity at TikTok (over 1.3m videos) has triggered additions to playlists on DSPs. "SUGAR" also leaped from #100-72 at Shazam.
"Since we impacted the record at radio we have seen growth from about 1.5m streams per week to 7.5m this week. I truly believe this is only the beginning to them being the biggest boy band in the world. Trust me, I've worked with a lot of boy bands," Riccitelli noted, adding that he and fellow Co-President John Fleckenstein had been working on their own TikTok school bathroom challenge until somebody called human resources.
