WEEKND'S TIKTOK CONCERT (UPDATE)

The Weeknd will take TikTok into augmented-reality territory as Republic Records and AR streaming company Wave present The Weeknd Experience on 8/7.

A digital avatar will represent The Weeknd in what TikTok is calling its “first-ever in-app cross reality experience.” Viewers will be able to interact with the singer while he performs.

The Weeknd’s show will be a fundraiser for charities focused on racial equality; TikTok will match donations. Proceeds from exclusive concert merch will also go to charity. The show starts at 8:30pm ET.

Wave, founded in 2016, has done shows with John Legend and Tinashe. They’re accepting RSVPs for the show here.

UPDATE: The Weeknd revealed to fans that a new collaboration with the late Juice WRLD will be arriving Thursday night. Following some teasing of a possible collab between the two stars last year, fans will finally get to hear their highly anticipated effort.
