UMG, POLS TACKLE ISSUES IN FORUMS

Universal Music Group and its Task Force for Meaningful Change are organizing two special programs for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference. It’s the fourth year UMG has celebrated the CBCF’s conference.

First up is Tuesday’s “Black and Blue,” a live conversation on the persistent police brutality in black and brown communities hosted by Def Jam Forward with special guest Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.). It will be streamed on Facebook and YouTube.

On 10/3, women leaders from across UMG will speak with Rep. Robin Kelly (D-Ill.) during a “Music Mavens” panel. That same day, Interscope/Geffen/A&M will host a panel on “The Art of Black Entrepreneurship & Brand Building” with special guest Rep. Yvette Clark (D-N.Y.). Go here to register.

The events are done in partnership with UMG’s 1824 and Diversity & Inclusion teams, Def Jam Forward, Interscope/Geffen/A&M and Republic Record’s Action Committee.

Earlier this month they hosted a webinar to encourage young black creatives and college students, an interactive workshop for young professionals, and a discussion on music’s role as the soundtrack to the political and social justice movement in America.
