This new feature focuses on industry people you probably haven’t seen much on our site—but their luck had to run out sometime.
In any event, we’re turning our cracked spotlight on the folks across the biz who put
in long hours every day and accomplish the important tasks for which their bosses will take credit.
Matt Graham
President/Founder, BRND MGMT and Tuxedo Records; Co-Founder, Winston House
Formerly Sr. Manager at
Scooter Braun Projects, Graham celebrated two
Grammy nominations and three
ACM noms for
Midland. He’s now focused on making the band’s next album and developing a rodeo film that bassist
Cameron Duddy will direct. On deck for the L.A.-based exec is new music from
XYLØ,
Corey Harper,
Desure and
Jasmine Thompson. He’s also an investor in buzzing music company
STEM.
Brittany Shabashov
Promotions Manager, Beats 1 on Apple Music
Beats 1 broadcasts a handful of artist shows every week, and Shabashov is at the center of it all. “We just launched a show with
Princess Nokia,” she says. “It’s been fun to watch that go from an idea to
a radio show, and then this really cute animated social-video series.” According to Shabashov, more innovative shows are being developed and are on the way.
TJ Landig
Sr. Director of Marketing, Warner Bros. Records
Landig is stoked to be working on projects by
Royal Blood,
Bryce Vine and
Twin Shadow, as well as a partnership with up-and-coming visual artist
cantstopgoodboy. Along with serving on the
City of Hope’s
Future Hope board (part of the charity’s Music, Film and Entertainment Industry group), he also has his sights set on a potential equity play in the health-and-wellness space.
Amanda Samii
Creative Director, Kobalt
Samii is especially proud of her clients’ drive.
Rogèt—known for working on
DRAM’s “Broccoli”—has singles out with
Halsey (“Bad at Love”) and
Miguel (“Sky Walker” f/
Travis Scott). Past collaborators include
Bruno Mars and
Calvin Harris. Roster mate
Finneas O’Connell—best known for writing and producing all of the
Billie Eilish project—has collaborated with
Vince Staples,
Khalid and
Tori Kelly.
Joy Murphy
VP, Head of Film and Television Music Licensing, UMPG
Murphy, who joined
UMPG in 2006, is responsible for overseeing sync licensing initiatives and negotiating creative licensing opportunities for the pubco’s writers. Her team has led licensing deals for projects involving legends like
Prince,
Elton John,
U2,
Bruce Springsteen and
Pearl Jam. Her highlight reel includes last year’s
Google ad with
Prince’s music and big looks at the
Super Bowl.
Brian Harris Frank
Founder, BFrank Management/Founder and Co-Owner, Rob the Rich Recordings
The L.A.-based manager and indie label head reps such acts as
FIDLAR,
Superet, The Frights,
Ra Ra Riot and
Moon Honey, and last year launched a JV with
Big Deal Music Group. His
Rob the Rich label's release of the new Ra Ra Riot album will be distribbed by Caroline. Look for his acts at
Coachella,
Lollapalooza and anywhere craft beer is served.
Lulu Pantin
Attorney, Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light LLP
Pantin works with labels, publishers and brands to structure updated deals that she swears actually make sense (for everyone) in the streaming economy. Her firm handled the legal aspects of the
One Love Manchester benefit less than two weeks after the devastating attack during
Ariana Grande’s
Dangerous Woman Tour. She says it was incredible to witness the artists and their teams come together to send a message of strength and perseverance.
Harry Griffiths
A&R, Caroline/Capitol Music Group
According to Griffiths, who’s got the biz in his blood,
Hey Violet’s new music sounds stellar, and the band is feeling super-confident.
CMG prexy
Ashley Newton gave Griffiths the opportunity to help curate the roster at
Caroline, and he’s been hard at work ever since. He’s looking forward to the release of
MNEK’s debut album, which he describes as “gloriously bonkers."
