
Bollywood actor and singer
Diljit Dosanjh—known as the Super Singh of Punjab—has struck his first major-label deal, signing with
Warner Music.
The game plan is to take him out globally, starting with singles with
Tory Lanez and Tanzania’s
Diamond Platnumz.
“Punjabi music has long been popular in India, and it’s now igniting international interest,” said
Max Lousada, CEO, Warner Recorded Music. “You don’t get many bigger names in the genre than Diljit Dosanjh and with our creative expertise and global marketing network, we can help him reach new audiences worldwide and become a truly global name. We’re really honored to have Diljit sign to Warner Recorded Music.”
Dosanjh has released 13 studio albums. His 2020 set
G.O.A.T. went Top 20 in Canada. His latest track, “Lover,” has more than 69m views on YouTube. His hit films include
Honsla Rakh, Jatt & Juliet and
Super Singh.
Dosanjh's manager,
Sonali Singh, notes that he's also sold out venues in the U.K. like
SSE Arena,
Wembley,
First Direct Arena and
Birmingham Arena. “Diljit’s growth as a global artist has been unprecedented, and we’re hopeful that this partnership with
Warner Music India will take us one step closer to making him a global music star,” he said.
Warner Music India launched two years ago. It has since signed a licensing deal with
Tips Music, opened the
Maati label and formed partnerships with
Ziiki Media and
Sky Digital.
