Michael Jackson in
MJ the Musical.
A Strange Loop was named Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical.
Jennifer Hudson won a statuette for her role as a producer of the show, cementing her EGOT status.
The late
Stephen Sondheim’s
Company was awarded Best Revival, with
Patti LuPone and
Matt Doyle winning in the musical supporting-acting categories.
Paradise Square’s
Joaquina Kalukango, whose performance of the show’s “Let it Burn” was among the highlights of the 75th annual Tony Awards ceremony, won Best Actress in a Musical.
Six won Best Score.
At 22, Frost is now the youngest Tony winner for Best Lead Actor in a Musical, besting 23-year-old
Ben Platt, who won for
Dear Evan Hansen in 2017. Three teenagers shared a win in 2009 for playing the title role in
Billy Elliot.
