Ben Platt, who's just an
Oscar away from EGOT, has signed with
Interscope Records.
John Janick is also enlisting him to develop artists on his own imprint.
Currently starring in the Broadway revival of
Parade, Platt is already working on new music to be released by Interscope.
The singer-actor has put out two albums, 2019's
Sing to Me Instead and 2021's
Reverie, and toured nationally, hitting major venues like the
Hollywood Bowl and
Madison Square Garden.
“Ben is an extraordinary artist in every way,” said Janick, chairman and CEO of
Interscope Geffen A&M. “He’s as comfortable headlining Madison Square Garden as he is on a Broadway stage. We’re so excited to have him on the label and are looking forward to working with him and his team on his future releases.”
Platt’s breakthrough Broadway performance came in
Dear Evan Hansen. He reprised his role for the 2021 film (Interscope released the soundtrack). His other screen credits include
The Politician and
Pitch Perfect.
“I’m thrilled for Ben’s future recorded music to be coming out on Interscope, a label known for its roster of iconic, culture-moving artists,” said Platt’s manager,
Adam Mersel. “We’re looking forward to working alongside John, Steve Berman and the entire IGA team on the next phase of Ben’s career.”
