JYP Entertainment and Republic Records’ global K-pop competition series, A2K, will begin streaming on JYP’s YouTube channel on 7/13.
A2K—America 2 Korea—will chronicle the creation of an American girl group trained through the K-pop system.
Following auditions in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas, finalists head to L.A. for boot camp. From there they will go to JYP headquarters in Seoul to receive the sort of training that produced TWICE, Stray Kids and other K-pop stars. JYP founder J.Y. Park will ultimately determine the members of the global girl group. Republic Chief Executive Monte Lipman is also overseeing the operation.
Carnivores on the Republic staff expect to become bulgogi experts by the time the contest concludes.
