If you thought the Inglewood area was hectic when the
Forum,
SoFi Stadium,
Intuit Dome and
YouTube Theater were all
hosting shows simultaneously, just think what will happen once those shows let out.
Potentially adding to the mayhem: a new bill introduced by California State Assemblymember
Tina McKinnor that would allow
Steve Ballmer's just-opened Intuit to continue selling alcohol on the premises from 2am to 4am. Longstanding L.A. regulations currently prohibit alcohol sales after 2, much to
HITS' displeasure.
The bill would permit after-hours drinking in any venue with a capacity of at least 18k as long as it takes place "in a private area in the arena no larger than 2,500 square feet in the hours immediately following a day on which a sporting event, concert or other major event, or a private event not open to the public, has occurred in the arena.”
As luck would have it, Intuit Dome, which will be the home of the
L.A. Clippers starting this fall, seats 18k. The Forum just misses the cut with a capacity of 17.5k.
The bill will require approval by Governor
Gavin Newsom and the Inglewood City Council before taking effect. Prepare thy livers, Clippers fans!
