Just a week after Sony Music Nashville’s latest signing Nate Smith dropped “I Don’t Wanna Go to Heaven,” the country up-and-comer has accumulated 2m+ on-demand streams on the single.
Written by Smith and Daniel Fernandez, “I Don’t Wanna Go to Heaven” arrived on 11/19 and showcases Smith’s gritty backwoods soul and rock ‘n’ roll-infused vocals.
“I feel like it will reach people in many different ways, and at the end of the day that’s all I really want!" Shared Smith upon its release.
Originally posted as a clip to TikTok in September, the track—which serves as a follow up to Smith’s “Raised Up”—quickly picked up traction on the platform and has since gone viral with 3.5m+ views, 550k likes and 30k fan video creations, while the lyric video has garnered nearly half a million views on YouTube.
Earlier this year, the country crooner was named a Spotify Hot Country Artist to Watch for 2021 and recently wrapped a tour with Brett Eldredge. Smith is managed by Kevin “Chief” Zaruk and Simon Tikhman with The Core Entertainment.
