K-pop powerhouse
JYP Entertainment has expanded its global partnership with
Republic Records and Republic's indie division,
Imperial. After successful roll-outs with female nonet
Twice, the labels will focus on expanding the footprint of all-star groups
ITZY and
Stray Kids.
Said Republic Founder and CEO
Monte Lipman, “JYP Entertainment is one of the most influential voices of our generation. With Founder
J.Y. Park at its helm, alongside CEO
Jimmy Jeong, the passion and vision for this collaboration is incredibly exciting. Having worked with JYP for many years, I admire them as esteemed colleagues and friends.”
With the support of Republic and Imperial, Twice has scored two Top 10 debuts. Their most recent album,
Formula of Love: O+T=<3, achieved a #3 bow. The group is playing arenas in the States this year, including two dates at
The Forum in L.A.
Republic and JYP will now collaborate on further developing the male octet Stray Kids. Since it was launched in 2017, the group has amassed more than 2b global streams on
Spotify, becoming one of only four K-pop boy bands in the platform's history to reach this milestone. Stray Kids also hold the distinction of being JYP’s first million-selling act, having moved 1.1m units of
NOEASY in under two weeks.
ITZY's global success includes a #11 debut on the
HITS Top 50.
To celebrate the deal, Monte and Avery have memorized the names of the 22 combined members of Twice, Stray Kids and ITZY.
