The Charlatans’
Tim Burgess will receive the Artists’ Artist award at the
Artist & Manager Awards in London on 11/17.
The honor recognizes his creative achievements over a 30+ year career, both as frontman for The Charlatans and as a solo performer.
The Charlatans have accumulated three #1 albums and a string of Top 10 successes. Burgess has also enjoyed an acclaimed solo career, releasing six albums, including this year's
Typical Music via
Bella Union.
"There aren't many individuals who've fronted the same band for over 30 years, and there are even fewer who've kept innovating and pushing forward with the same level of enthusiasm,” said
Featured Artists Coalition Chief Executive
David Martin. “Tim always brings something new and is always worth listening to. The British music scene would be much poorer without his influence.”
Burgess also founded record label
O Genesis Recordings,
launched a pop-up cafe—
Kendal Calling's
Tim Peaks Diner—and works as a DJ. His fifth book,
The Listening Party Volume 2, which celebrates the success of
Tim's Listening Parties on
Twitter, was published this year.
Other, previously announced winners of Artist & Manager Awards include
Martin Hall,
Becky Hill,
Bose Ogulu,
ABBA Voyage,
Carl Cox,
Krept & Konan,
Red Light Management and
Music Declares Emergency.
