Imagine Dragons are battling
Dua Lipa for this week’s U.K. Official Albums #1.
Sabrina Carpenter will apparently remain atop the singles tally.
LOOM (
Interscope), the sixth LP by Imagine Dragons, is leading the charge at today’s midweek stage. If it holds that position on Friday, it will be the band’s second U.K. #1.
But there's strong competition from
Dua Lipa, who headlined
Glastonbury on Friday night. Her
Radical Optimism (
Warner Records) sits at #2 and trails Imagine Dragons by fewer than 300 copies. The former #1 rose 25 places over the weekend, and Lipa has two more album’s in today’s Top 20, with
Future Nostalgia at #9 and
Dua Lipa at #13.
Glastonbury was streamed worldwide for the first time this year, on
BBC.com.
Elsewhere,
Camila Cabello’s
C,XOXO (
Geffen/Interscope) starts at #7.
Johnny Cash’s
Songwriter (
UMG), a collection of previously unreleased, self-penned songs recorded in 1993, is looking to debut at #11.
Beyoncé’s former chart-topper
COWBOY CARTER (
Parkwood/
Columbia) is on track to re-enter the Top 40 this week after rocketing 85 places to #14 following its release on vinyl.
Shania Twain is also about to experience a big chart boost from her Glastonbury appearance; Twain played the Sunday "legends" slot, and her
Greatest Hits (
Mercury Nashville), which received a vinyl reissue last week, is sitting at #18 in what would be its first time in the Top 40 since 2005.
On the U.K.’s Official Singles midweeks, Carpenter’s “Espresso” (
Island) could return to #1 for a sixth nonconsecutive week. The track's in a very tight race with the artist's own current #1, “Please Please Please.”
Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” (Island) is likely to continue its ascent as it's up three to #4 today.
Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” (
EMI) is also on the rise, from #13 to #10.
“Illusion” by Dua Lipa could re-enter the Top 20 at #13, while “feelslikeimfallinginlove” (
Parlophone) by
Coldplay is up four to #21. The
Chris Martin-led band headlined Glastonbury on Saturday with a set that included a guest appearance by actor
Michael J. Fox.
