Los Lobos,
Tom Morello,
Michael McDonald and
Lyle Lovett are among the artists who’ll gather to honor
John Hiatt at the
Americana Music Association’s 2/1 pre-
Grammy tribute.
Hiatt will take the
Troubadour stage for the event, which has pivoted to become a benefit for those affected by the wildfires that ravaged Los Angeles earlier this month.
Said AMA Executive Director
Jed Hilly, “We’re not a huge corporation that could cancel an event and donate a million dollars. We don’t necessarily have tens of thousands of dollars to donate. But by shifting this, we’re doing what we can."
Other announced performers include
John C. Reilly,
Sarah Jarosz,
The Milk Carton Kids,
Maggie Rose,
Joe Bonamassa,
Cedric Burnside and
Shemekia Copeland.
This year’s event is the first to transpire under the auspices of Grammy (the
Academy previously granted tacit approval for a contemporaneous staging without Grammy branding).
MusiCares helped pave the way to make the Hiatt tribute an official Grammy Week event.
Tickets are available at the Troubadour
site for a minimum donation of $200. There will also be a livestream component at
Volume.com, with pay-what-you-can price points.
