TikTok once again flexed its influence in 2024, as the Top 10 global songs on the platform accounted for 200m+ creations and combined for 8b streams on
Spotify this year.
Latin music and K-pop thrived, underscoring the platform's ability to drive trends. Tracks like
FloyyMenor & Cris Mj's "Gata Only,"
Xavi's "La Diabla" and
Sevdaliza's "Alibi" introduced new artists and diverse sounds to the world. Seven of the Top 10 global artists, meanwhile, were K-pop acts.
Sabrina Carpenter used TikTok to amplify her reach during a career-elevating year. "Espresso," "Please, Please, Please" and "Taste" inspired 15m+ video creations, earning the
Island star the title of Top Artist in the U.S.
Central Cee and
Charli xcx were the top acts in the U.K.
Carpenter was also one of the
Grammy-nominated performers to partner with TikTok for an exclusive in-app "experience" upon the release of a 2024 album;
Billie Eilish,
Taylor Swift and
Post Malone were the others.
“In 2024 TikTok truly became the music industry’s primary launchpad for music, artists and creativity,” said TikTok Global Head of Music Business Development
Ole Obermann. “Every year, our global community discovers a new generation of emerging artists, creates new viral hit songs and rediscovers classic tracks, propelling them into the charts worldwide. TikTok continues to be a space for discovery, self-expression and fandom, empowering artists to build a global fan base, engage with the community and build their careers."
